Hello everyone!


Today is the last day of 2009. Just like the previous few years, I'm going to make a short review of this year and also talk about my new year resolution.


Before I start, I'm going to talk about what happened for the past 2 weeks.


For last week, I basically spent most of my time slacking around and also to do some work. The only interesting this was, on the 23rd Dec, Wed, I went on a community service at west coast to distribute supplies to needy elderly. As of this week, I've been clearing up all my work and spent quite a lot of time working out at the gym. Just like this Tuesday, where I spent 3.5h during the afternoon in the gym...


After gym, I went to Novena to buy a new addition to my arsenal of melodic destruction...

The BOSS OS - 2 Overdrive/Distortion pedal

This thing is real terror man! It can make sounds that mixes distortion and overdrive together. So, other than the built-in overdrive kind of sound in my amp, it can also make other sounds such as some real mellow distortion sound, or some fuzzy sounding distortions. The only thing lacking is just my skills to fully manipulate it with several different songs of different genres.




This pedal has a level knob to control the amount of output(volume) I want, so as to not disturb my family or even to blow my amp's speaker. A tone knob for me to control it to make a darker or brighter sound. A drive knob to control the gain (or the amount) of the effect's output and lastly, which is also the most important knob, the color knob. This knob allows me to control the amount of mix between overdrive and distortion I want, so turning it all the way clockwise gives me total distortion and all the way anti-clockwise gives me total overdrive.


And so... here's my new arsenal of melodic destruction:




My TGM V2 - RD acoustic guitar, ESP LTD M - 50 electric guitar, Ibanez IBZ10G guitar amplifier and lastly the new addition, the BOSS OS - 2 Overdrive/Distortion pedal.


There would most probably be more and more stuff to be added as the days of my music journey passes, but currently, I think this set is going to last me for quite some time before I spend more money to buy new additions to it.


There's actually one thing that I forgot to talk about last week, actually, about a month ago at the 5th of Dec, I also bought a new phone, its a Sony Ericsson W705. However, that phone is not as good as what I've expected. Other than better sound chip set and more storage space as compared to my previous phone, the Sony Ericsson K770, there's nothing else good about it. The new interface of the media player kinda suck, despite having a 3Mp camera, the photo quality really sucks, as it doesn't have auto-focus. And then, the in-built wifi was more of a disappointment to me, its reception is very bad. Also, the part that sucks the most is that, my current phone is so much lagger than my previous phone.


And ya, here's my phone...






Then for yesterday, it was a fun filled day with my buddies, Nigel, Seng Hong, Jonathan, Kae Jian and Arunn. We went to Nigel's place to 'play' and BBQ. We had lots of fun together and had our fill during the BBQ.


Then as of today, I am going to meet those guys again for our countdown gathering later.


And so... time flies, a year passed. Reflecting through this year, I realized that I have again, changed. Maybe changing is just another part and parcel of life.


Last year, these were my new year resolutions I set for this year:

1. Be serious about my guitar lessons and learn till I find that I can quit and continue my self learning.
2. Excel in my post Secondary School Education and continue to be serious and consistent on my studies.
3. Maintain my relations with my friends now and also make new friends when I proceed further to my post Secondary Education.
4. Forget about the past, just look forward to the future. Don't let those sad things in the past hinder me.
5. Continue to just do what I like and what I am interested in. I love metal and rock music. I love cars, Japanese tuner cars especially. Just continue to do what I like, I need not care about what other people comment on my interest; even be it that my interest are not as common as what others do.
6. Be more independent to pay for my Yamaha Electric Guitar lesson's fee, public transport concession and maybe even my phone bill by myself.
7. I know this sounds weird, I would just like to let fate decide for me to meet a gal whose interest matches mine. Is able to be like me to take vulgar/sick stuff lightly; as a joke and will be happy being with me. Just hope that such gal will come into my life someday and maybe stay in my life forever. (Laugh at me all you want people... I know I sounded kinda desperate for a gal, but I can say I am not!)

For this year, yeah, I've been working very hard on my music journey, in fact, I've improved greatly as compared to the way I was last year. For studies, I was working rather hard on it, and will still work hard for it. For friendship, I've made several new friends through DPA, poly class and also through my CCA. I've also been contacting my secondary friends very frequently, especially those in NP. But sadly, there are still some whom I have somehow lost contact with.


However, there are still some unfulfilled resolutions for this year. Things like issues regarding my finances, although I am earning some money through private tutoring, I've always been only saving up money in the bank. So it was still my parents paying for my stuff. Only a small part from my income so far was used as my daily allowance, such as for stuff like food or some simple shopping. And very sadly, I seem to find it hard to forget my past and is somehow still living in the past... It is just too hard to put down some things or forget about some people in my memories.


So after living through this year, I've decided to not make too many resolutions for myself, but instead just concentrate on a few...

1. Live as myself
2. Study hard and smart
3. Try to live healthily physically and spiritually
4. Make more friends
5. Maintain good relations with all my friends now
6. Excel in my CCAs too :]

My new year resolutions for next year would just be this simple. And I here by hope that next year would be a fruitful year!
